PAPER

Event Outline

MATERIAL IN TIME is a platform constructed along three axes – an EXHIBITION, where you can catch a glimpse of new materials with a new appeal through their integration with design, JAMSESSION / WORKSHOP / TASTE LIBRARY (FOOD & DESIGN), which gets visitors involved, and a MARKET, where people can actually touch and purchase the items being exhibited. Once a year, MATERIAL IN TIME carefully selects outstanding Japanese materials and, by collaborating with designers and creators, introduces the appeal of the new materials that are created. We hope that someday, we will be able to facilitate collaboration between people from Japan, Hong Kong and other countries. Our first theme for 2018 is “paper”. From Japanese washi paper, a traditional material designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, to works where paper has evolved through the utilization of silver nano ink, we learn of the background of “paper”, so familiar to our daily life, and look at what kinds of changes there are in Japan and in other parts of the world.

We hope to create a place where we can JAM with different people through MATERIAL IN TIME’s exhibitions, workshops, lectures and talks.

*JAM is the endeavor to look for new phrases and faces and find the best fit
